Are you a Meeting or Event Manager, maybe a Corporate Planner, a Hotel, Restaurant, or Caterer? If so, then this event is a must attend for you and your associates!

The Meeting Professionals International Nor Cal Chapter is hosting their 21st Annual Trade Show at Moscone Center West in San Francisco on Tuesday, February 24, 2009. This event is an incredible educational and networking opportunity. This writer has covered this event for several years and has also attended it as a Meeting/Event Professional, and it is by far one of the best events for networking and making good quality industry connections.

The MPINCC Trade Show is considered to be a leading regional show in the hospitality and meeting planning industries. It will showcase a number of relevant workshop sessions being taught by outstanding leaders which include: Marketing through social networking, legal issues confronting meeting professionals in today's environment, technology tools for busy professionals, working in a multi-generational workforce, and the state of the current economy both globally and personally. Those of you considering a Meeting Planning education can take courses to help you move closer to earning a CMP and CMM credentials. A New Workshop was just added with an emphasis on career strategies and up-to-date resume tips. Sheryl Sookman Schelter, CMP, will be leading a morning workshop titled after her new book, "Who's in Charge of Your Career? Creating a Strategy for Success." This year's Trade Show theme is "Connections through Collaboration." In today's environment, especially how rough the economy is and how it is effecting almost all businesses across the board, making connections are more important than ever and what better way to connect than a full day of face-to-face time with industry peers and prospective clients and vendors?

The ability to make connections at this event are vast: Connect at the morning workshops, during exhibit-floor time, and at the post-show afternoon reception. More than 4,000 corporate, association, government and meeting management professionals are invited to attend. This year you can expect a strong variety of educational sessions, amazing prizes, plenty of time on the Trade Show floor and the popular Wine Tasting Reception. The reception will be easily accessible, taking place on the Third Level of Moscone West directly upstairs from the exhibit hall.

By Nolan Apostle
Editor in Chief

Why should you, the Events and Creative Industry's professional be curious about the products and services we will see at, CES (Consumer Electronic Show) in Las Vegas and MacWorld Expo in San Francisco? Well it'spretty simple. At Event City we focus on bringing you the latest in new technology and "out of the box" ideas for doing what you do. We bring you solutions for problems that exist and those that may exist in the future. We help you prevent future headaches as well through learning about key products and services to help you in your business.

You could be a Planner, Corporate Manager, Hospitality & Events specialist, Travel, Art, Entertainment, Music Food & Beverage or Film industry professional and we will constantly bring you the latest and greatest to help you succeed!

So now that you know our secret, here's a few things to chew on while we work on bringing you much more from both of these great shows.

MACWORLD EXPO 2009 - Slated to be the last MacWorld Expo with the attendance of Apple Computer Inc., Macworld Conference & Expo offers access to hundreds of Mac products and services, paired with expert advice, demonstrations, and instruction. Visit some unique companies who's technologies or products can certainly help you do what you do best.

KERIO - A firm that provides services and products to help you Connect, Communicate and Collaborate securely

AVERY - Manufacturer of labels for printers, DesignPro software, binders, dividers, and other supplies for home, office and school. They have great programs for small business.

GUITAR CENTER - Guitar Center is the leading retailer of guitars, amplifiers, percussion instruments, keyboards and pro-audio.

The 2009 event is focused on creating a Macworld experience based on your interests (products or services) and training needs! Whether you have a small business, work for a large corporation, are a creative professional or an IT professional, we have the conference content, special presentations, expo hall highlights and activities that meet your specific needs.

Oh yeah, something for you "Old Skoolers" to think about when discussing will Apple not attend anymore MacWorlds; how many times did the Rolling Stones say they were calling it quits?

What about CES and why should you attend?

CES, the Consumer Electronic Show 2009 - Wow, what can I say, CES has become the playground for anyone interested in anything electronic!! Unfortunately CES is not a "consumer" show, meaning the consumer cannot attend you must be in the business of reselling electronics or have some affiliation or are a journalist involved in writing about these goods and services.

Speaking of services, one of the cool companies exhibiting at CES this year is GigaTribe, a great file-sharing software company that wants to revolutionize how you exchange files with your family, friends and business associates. Visit the GigaTribe website for more information or go to the Event City BlogaZine for a personal invitation from Event City.

Much more to come on MacWorld Expo and CES.

WHY INTERNET ADVERTISING?

Why not? Sure that's the easy way out. Ask a question give a simple answer. For the last year or so since we have talked to many of our Alpha and Beta testers about being more successful on the Internet we have heard this question time and time again. Why Advertise on the Internet? Why spend any amount of time investing in the Internet besides a website? It's too confusing. It's too difficult. Hackers will just steal what we do anyway! How can we earn revenues when there are experts out there doing just that? We will attempt to answer all those questions and much more as we visit Ad Tech San Francisco at Moscone Center over the next few days. This is a fascinating subject and all of the technologies behind these solutions are truly brilliant!

First things first though. If you are involved in any of the Event City's industries, the Events & Creative Industries you definitely should be attending Ad Tech. As we cover this three day show in San Francisco, we already realize the magnitude of it's presence here in San Francisco alone. Social Networking a huge buzz word in general and at the show is seems to be a perfect fit for the Social Butterflies of the City By the Bay. Well as we come to realize there is so much more to "Social Networking" than one might perceive.

Ad dollars are just a part of what Ad Tech is all about. Sure the Goods are where the Gold is, or Cash is King (or is that Cache is King) but is that always true, especially in this day and age? I'm not too certain anymore. Tiny startups to major players like Google, Yahoo, Nestle and Kodak (Yep, even Nestle's Chocolates and Kodak Film company) are here, and you can bet they are not just Chocolates and no more film for the once gigantic firms. So what are two companies like these doing here? Who incidentally fall into the realm of the Event City's "Events & Creative Industries"?

Come on down and find out. Or if you can't make it to Ad Tech San Francisco, please visit their website and learn about Ad Tech's world tour, probably coming to a city near you. So if you are one of those who think that the Advertising and Marketing world on the Internet is not very important, you better think again; and that's no threat, it's reality. Come to Ad Tech and learn, that's where I will be. Here are some highlights of this great show.

Attendees will converge on ad:tech San Francisco (http://www.ad-tech.com/sf/) April 15-17 at the Moscone Center to attend panel sessions, workshops and keynotes during three action-packed days of learning from today’s digital marketing industry game-changers. Attendees will take away the tools and techniques they need to compete in a changing marketing world, and gain first-hand insight into emerging opportunities with online video, social networks, mobile marketing, digital out-of-home advertising and more.

Hear from four of the hottest stars of online video, including Kevin Rose (pictured) of Diggnation, Ask a Ninja's Kent Nichols, Jeff Macpherson of Tiki Bar TV and Martin Sargent of Revision3. View the live taping and hear and explore how you can leverage programs like these to expand your own audience.

That's the key to what Ad Tech can offer. How you can learn to leverage programs like those above, and so much more to expand your own audience, no matter who that audience is. The Special Event, Meeting Planning, Hospitality, Travel, Art, Entertainment, Music, Motion Pictures, Food & Beverage are all industries that can leverage these programs and expand audiences and reap the benefits.

I look forward to attending this show and covering it for all of you, my associates on the battlegrounds of the Events & Creative Industries- the EVENT CITY NETWORK!

NEW SF EVENTS VENUE OPENS & GOES GREEN

BENTLY RESERVE & CONFERENCE CENTER

Plans for a series of events are taking shape quite nicely at the new BENTLY RESERVE CONFERENCE & EVENTS CENTER in San Francisco. On April 9th and 10th, Christopher and Amber Marie Bently, owners of The Bently Reserve, are set to debut it’s new sustainable upgrades and the state-of-the-art Bently Conference Center with a series of events and festivities open to business associates, the media, event managers, meeting planners and the hospitality industry.

The crown jewel of the renovated building is the new Conference Center on the 2nd floor, boasting a variety of sustainable features and innovative technologies for meetings, parties, videoconferencing and corporate events. While it’s no mystery to San Franciscans who host lavish weddings and groundbreaking conferences there, The Bently Reserve is now more unique and appealing than ever thanks to an array of new eco-friendly features and innovative technologies.

Green, energy-efficient highlights include core upgrades like the new building control HVAC system, which was completely upgraded with a digital control, offering centralized on-site and remote temperature control, allowing off-site control for evening and weekend events.

The upgraded lighting controller – the Lutron Lighting EcoSystem™ – (which happens to be one of this writer's favorite) networks all lighting systems together and allows exact monitoring of kilowatts to accurately measure energy consumption. Advanced lighting sensors automatically detect outside light and adjust the interior lights to maximize energy savings. There are only three other commercial facilities on Earth with the same system installed on this scale.

In addition, the old CFC-based air conditioning chiller units were removed and replaced with a new, modern non-CFC based refrigerant system. This is a huge plus for event planners, especially when you get a crowed room of party-goers, all that body heat can really blast up the temperature in any room; this new air conditioning system will keep everyone nice and cool.

The latest digital technology was integrated into the new Conference Center, making it one of the most appealing destinations in San Francisco for conferences and business meetings. Teleconferencing equipment from Polycom offers high-definition quality and “Continuous Presence”, which allows conference attendees in multiple physical locations to see and hear each other in real-time digital squares on a monitor or screen. A highly-secure network using the latest Cisco Systems firewall and switch equipment creates peace of mind and a network that is secure enough to support government agencies. There is wireless internet available via completely segregated network access throughout the facility. With this system, individuals can connect to the network via their laptops throughout the Conference Center. In addition, there is also a business area with available computer rentals, fax machines, copiers, and scanners. Companies can also select from a variety of comprehensive audio/visual and telecommunications packages to suit their needs.

As you can see from the pictures, this is a beautiful venue, but its beauty is not truly appreciated until you had the opportunity to visit this incredible venue. If you are an Event or Meeting industry Professional, Corporate Planners, anyone involved in the Hospitality or Entertainment industries please send us an email and we will send you a complete detailed email of event schedules and the Venue's manager contact information.

We look forward to seeing you at the New Bently Reserve Sneak Peak Events on April 9th and 10th in San Francisco.
